Limit HE is more difficult to play than NL. . . I said it and I'm glad!

I don't necessarily believe it is more difficult, I think it just involves a lot more luck. People suck out more often and it seems like it is harder to win because every hand ends in a showdown. _________________ Trust me... I know this stuff. |

I think it is more difficult to win, but less strategy involved. Because unless the person you are playing is good, it doesnt matter how many moves you make, all that matters is if the catch their crap... _________________ Poker Heaven |

| Gets frustrating because this allows lots of players to play out their draws, and a lot of the time your top pair will get outdrawn. |

i agree with everyone to a point but when u get above the 1/2 limits the games get much tighter and people will not play gutshots to the river
The other thing is that you have to assume that top pair is not going to be good most of the time which is why alot of no limit players never succeed at limit holdem because they bet and raise that to the river and get outdrawn
Finally the strategy is different in limit holdem because instead of trying to trap your opponent or force them to make a mistake for a large pot you are trying to chip away at their stack _________________ never leave your cards unprotected |

Very good point of view snoopy. I always loosen up when playing Limit, you pretty much have to if you want to win. You can't just wait around for the premium hands.
I just realized I am starting to repeat what we have already written.

i agree you do need to loosen up your preflop play however the most important thing is pot odds, even if you flop a flush draw if there is 2 bets in front of you and you dont have the nut flush draw i dont think you can play it _________________ u think u can beat me......good luck |

i am probably one of the worst limit holdem players out there but from my expierience when i win it is because of my patience i tend to tighten up rather than play more loose _________________ I never lose |

I prefer Limit actually. Last night I took 4th in a 10+1 MTT...
I find you have to fold decent cards often, and be very patient. Slowley build your stack, as the blinds grow, you have some cash to push with thos AK< AQ< AJ hands.
I mostly fold PP under JJ, when the blinds are up there. Too many stay on rags, and hit on the river...or lots get that runner runner... |

That is a pretty good strategy for a tournament because you are almost guaranteed to lose if you don't hit a set. But playing in a cash game your low pocket pairs are going to win you the most money if you get lucky and hit. Also, I will play 95% of the hands I see on the button. Position is much more important to me in a limit game than in a no-limit game. _________________ Trust me... I know this stuff. |

i definately agree with "the professa" on his point because i believe that there is nothing more important than position in limit holdem _________________ all in baby |

thats why we pay him the big bucks
Its very true though, since there is a limit on what you can bet, you have to take advantage of everything else, and nothing is more important than position. _________________ Poker Heaven |

Agreed. This is why I never play LImit holdem, people always chase and a lot of the time will hit. I prefer no limit, so I can push them in by raising a lot, and either make them fold or pay big to see the next card. |

Conversly, though, if you flop a good, or even decent draw playing in a limit game you know roughly how much it is going to cost you to chase it. You can figure out approximatly what your pot odds are going to be on the turn and river based on the amount of players in the pot and the action going on, and you don't have to worry about laying down your hand based on a gigantic raise. I simply just won't play top pair strong in limit, simply due to the fact that top pair is normally not going to hold up. _________________ Trust me... I know this stuff. |
