|
|
I had this emailed to me yesterday, so I figured it would be a good topic to start this off.
The Question...
How do you play Ace,-mid to low kickers?
The Answer...
One of the toughest things in poker after playing for a couple of hours, is looking down at your cards and first seeing an ace...Yes... then flipping up the corner of the other card and its a...7. Damn! Most players call this hand preflop way to often because they think "I got an ace". But the best way to play these are to know when to play them.
Early Position...
Fold, if your kicker is lower than a 10, get rid of it. The odds of someone having a better hand then you and raising is to good. Your just wasting money because if someone raises even if its just a little, you have to fold.
Middle Position...
This is when you call with your A.x (suited) hands. Even if its A,2 of hearts, call because you now aren't against the odds like you are in early position. If its not suited, then drop them if the kicker is less then an 8.
Late Position...
Now you have made it past most of the players and have to start thinking your Ace-x could be the best hand. If your on the button then don't be afraid to through out a pot size bet and see how many callers you get. But be careful, the blinds haven't played yet so they could be holding a monster. So make a bet and focus on the players to get a read off of them.
Everyone has different strategies on how to play poker. I play my poker more off the math aspect because that is how you can consistently win money. I am always open for discussion... _________________ Poker Heaven |

I am not going to ever limp in with an Ace-low off suit unless i'm in the little blind. It is a hand that is probably only going to win if you can get away with a raise preflop and play it as if you have an ace with a high kicker. I can't stand people who limp in mid position with these hands and end up winning with a shoddy two pair. _________________ Trust me... I know this stuff. |

Wow, that quote thing totally didn't go like it was supposed to.

This is where I struggle online. What kind of read do you most look for on an online table. There is so much to look for in a live game, but when I play an internet game, reads seem to dissappear save for the bets people make and the hands that they show. |

Check out the article on Online vs. Live poker. There are many things you can look for, such as the way they have played previous hands, the amount of time it takes for them to bet, and what they keep typing in the chat room. Reads are much harder to pick up in an online game, but people still do have tells. _________________ Trust me... I know this stuff. |

I don't like Ace little suited in mid-position in a full ring game.
Too many ways to lose with it. _________________ i've never wanted to be anything and after many years i believe i'm close to achieving this goal |
