Don’t try to circumvent U.S. law on Internet gambling! Rumor has it that the U.S. Justice Dept. (DOJ) may be preparing as we speak to go after U.S. resident I-gamblers – not just remote gambling service providers, such as Party Poker, which, incidentally may be next on DOJ’s hit list. Unbelievably, Party went to DOJ to ask essentially for prosecutors to vet the company for possible breaches of U.S. law – not unlike asking the fox to ensure the chickens are secure. The result is apparently about $1/2B U.S. in settlement. In-house counsel is reported to be taking a vacation from legal work for awhile – for a LONG while, we suspect.

U.S. prosecutions of Internet gambling services have not yet targeted gamblers personally but this could change ANY TIME, and DOJ didn’t learn legal rules at charm school.

Your concerns would be much more effective if voiced to appropriate government reps. See links below for a few good ones.

You cant play at partypoker, but there are a ton of other online poker sites that do allow US players. My favorites are… cakepoker, carbonpoker, wingows, vegaspoker24/7, absolute poker, and many others. I play for cash online at all of these sites and I have no troubles with any of these sites. I live in Indiana which is one of 11 states where it is most difficult to play for cash as a resident of that state. So I am sure you will have no troubles if you try a few of these sites. There are a number of sites you can use BoDog, Full Tilt Poker, Poker Stars etc. All of them can not legally allow you to gamble in the US, however they fund the account in a strange way out of the country to get around it.
I played on Party Poker for a long time, they have chosen to follow the letter of the law. They are a public company, I actually think that they are Canadian, not British so they are patiently waiting the rulings to change. You should have been able to request your money to be refunded and closed your account with Party Poker unless you want to just play for free but even then you should close your real money out.

You need to open a new account an a different poker site. Full Tilt Poker, Poker Stars, Absolute Poker, Ultimate Bet are the best place to play at for US players.

Party Poker has banned US players, because they are a large corporation traded on the stock market in the UK. If they allowed American players, some of the major stock holders and directors could face arrest if they ever came to America.

But there are plenty of other sites you can play (see link).

The easiest way to deposit money is to buy a pre-paid Visa gift card from Walgreens or CVS. When you are ready to cash out, have them send you a check.

If you want something quicker but not quite as cheap, set up an epassporte account. It really is very little hassle and once set up you can deposit and withdraw money whenever you like.

There is currently no way for a US player to play at Party Poker. Legally anyway. Why not open an account at one of the other rooms that accept US poker players? There are still quite a few that do you know.
